I've had Hon's Wun-Tun House on my list for a while as who doesn't like a plump, juicy dumpling of pork and shrimp in a flavorful broth? Visited with 3 friends and all ordered the beef brisket won ton/noodle where I'm more of a simple order of won tons with bbq pork. Bowls delivered piping hot and fragrant of generous beef brisket. The consensus was "hey where's the won ton?"...bowl came with 3 won tons. My bowl of bbq pork sans noodles came with (maybe) about 8. Tasty and enjoyable and thankfully, didn't have any post msg effects (major thirst or headache) Service efficient and to the point with an upsell of appetizers...told the onion pancakes were "ho sik" (Chinese for tasty food) so placed an order...yup, the extent of my understanding of Chinese! I enjoyed my bowl of BBQ pork won ton and thought average (not standout) and open to trying other dishes. The onion pancake was crispy, chewy and flavorful but a bit greasy so did a dab, dab with a napkin. Place is relatively clean for Chinatown with all gender bathrooms. Service quick and no nonsense. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again but if in the area and want some Chinese comfort food would stop by. Close to Portsmouth Square parking garage.

took my ABC bf and HE CLEARED EVERYTHING! it's been a staple in our family for ages; even my canto neighbor recognized the seal when i brought her some frozen dumplings for lunar new year. the shanghai pan seared dumplings were okay but the classic wonton mein is so full of MSG it's addicting. plus pair it with a refreshing lemon tea you literally can't go wrong. pork chasiu was tender but i prefer j the wonton tbh. do yourself a favor and take some of the frozen wun-tuns to go! your family will thank you later.

Headed over at around 3:30 pm on a Saturday and there were some tables available where we got seated immediately for our table of four. We ordered soon after looking at all the different options and the dishes came out quickly, around 10 minutes Scallion Pancake - The pancakes were very light, puffy and had some layers to it. It wasn't dry and the scallion came through with a mild flavor. BBQ Pork Wun-tun Noodle Soup - Their wontons are some of my favorites made with shrimp and pork. It is packed with flavor and with the sweet, meaty bbq was a contrast to the clear chicken broth and chewy egg noodles. My parents got the beef brisket where the meat was tender and a dish with wider noodles which were cooked well. A great meal for a cold day or some comfort food.

Came in on a Monday at around 5-6. Only a handful of people, seated immediately. The food was amazing, and I'm not even a huge fan of Chinese. The broth had such a great aftertaste and the pancakes very savory + crunchy. What really impressed me the most is how fast the service was. Or more accurately, how fast the food came out. Not even 5 minutes after I ordered and I got my soup and pancakes. The drink took longer than the food, but that's not a complaint. The person next to me got theirs in two minutes. The other comments say they had a big wait but it seems I chose a good day

It was actually my tour guide from SF City Guides that highly recommended this spot to me after I had finished the Chinatown walking tour with him. Hon's Wun-Tun House is famous for their fresh, handmade won-tons, among other popular and yummy eats. While it was packed on an late Sunday morning - rainy and cold during my visit - I waited just a few minutes before a perfectly sized table for a solo diner opened up. I had prime seating for people watching - while still spaced far enough apart from other diners for comfort. My waitress stopped by promptly after I sat down to take my order. I had an order of Five Spice Tea Eggs, #E9 - BBQ Pork Wun-Tun Noodle Soup, and a glass of Fresh Soymilk. My food came out about ten minutes later. The Five Spice Tea Eggs were such a yummy treat! They come with the shell on - so crack them quickly, even if you don't plan to peel them yet - as it helps de-shelling them later. Each bite was full of flavor, and was a great complement to the fresh cup of soymilk. My noodle soup came out a few minutes later. There was a good ratio of meat, won-tons, and noodles in my soup. The broth was rich and flavorful. The BBQ pork was perfectly seasoned. The eggs, noodle soup and large cup of fresh soymilk made for a satisfying start to the day of sightseeing. What's neat is that right outside the restaurant, you can peer over the staff putting together the won-tons - which are handmade fresh daily. I actually wished I had stopped by here earlier in my trip, as I would've definitely made another visit before flying back home. While this location is on Washington St - Hon's has another location just a few blocks away on Kearny St.

Write your name on the clipboard at the register. I ordered a Hong Kong milk tea, hot (which I've never had). It came with two cups. I instantly googled how to drink it. Basically pour the ceramic cup (milk portion) into the metal cup (tea). It was good! (~$5) I also ordered the bbq pork wuntun noodle soup. Omg it was so good. The char siu was so good! Salivating! The broth was flavorful and hot. The wuntuns I think we're shrimp and pork so don't order it if you have a shellfish allergy. I was so excited that I texted a couple of friends that I couldn't wait to take them here. Ugh. And the price was not bad at all ($16) Pay at your seat.

Cozy & delicious is how I would describe this restaurant. We went right before the lunch rush so we were seated relatively quickly. The staff was so efficient with taking orders and drinks, and the kitchen was poppin' (open concept right in the back). I especially loved the vibe - a mix of families, friends, couples, tourists - it really contributed to the energy of this place. We ordered the wun tun beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, and the beef chow fun just for the two of us since we were visiting from Hawaii and wanted to try all the best things. It did not disappoint! The broth for the wun tun soup was so fresh and authentic; the soup dumplings were piping hot and tasty; and the chow fun was cooked to perfection (my personal favorite). I would go back time and time again if this was in our Chinatown, it was so delicious!

So happy we came to eat here. The food was amazing and the variety was innumerable. You will find what you want or get multiple dishes and share. I ordered H3. Shrimp Chow Mein. It was delicious. I also ordered the green onion pancakes as an appetizer they were good... I asked for some sweet & sour for dipping and that added to the flavor. Seating was fairly quick (15-20 min), busy but great environment, service was fast & friendly.

F6. Green Chives & Pork Dumplings (3.0) These taste exactly how you'd expect them to taste! I didn't find anything particularly special about them and they're average price. D12. Green Onion Pancake (5.0) Truly the best scallion pancakes that my husband and I have ever had. They're perfectly crispy and layered whilst being perhaps a smidgen too oily, but no matter. You can't eat scallion pancakes without oily lips. This is also saltier than I'm used to, but it really helped bring out the flavor of the green onions. I can't bring myself to order scallion pancakes at other restaurants now since trying it here. B3. Beef & Cilantro Rice Roll Lunch (4.5) This has more beef than appearances lend itself to. The rice roll was really soft and chewy, making it a pleasant eating experience. I felt that it was lacking in saltiness, but since we ordered a bunch of other dishes that were well seasoned, this didn't bother me. B7. Chinese Doughnut Rice Roll Lunch (5.0) How can you make carbs taste better? You wrap it in more carbs. This is an easy crowd pleaser. You just have to eat it fresh before it gets too hard!

Came here over the weekend with my wife based upon her recommendation, as apparently, she comes here often for lunch during work. When we arrived, the entrance area was crazy packed and quite the madhouse. They have a waitlist that we had to track down, and was a good 30min wait for our turn for a table for 2. The lady calling out the names has an accent and doesn't speak very loudly. So it's often hard to hear your name being called out. They really should install either a ticketing system, or have some sort of amplifier for the lady when she calls out names amongst a big crowd of people all waiting for their turn. Added to this, the same hostess seating people was also responsible for manning the front registers and taking orders for take-out. Food also took awhile to come out after ordering, as the kitchen appeared to be backed up with the volume of tickets coming in. Despite all this, it was still worth all the waiting as the food here was delicious and definitely hit the spot! We each ordered different wun-tun noodle soups, as well as some rice rolls to share. I had the Beef Organ Wun-tun Noodle Soup. Which if you're not squeamish about organs, is really good. I can also tell why this place is known for their wun-tun's, as the wun-tuns were made really well and the fillings were jam packed with flavor. The broth was also stewed well, and had a delicious rich flavor profile without being too salty or oily. Would definitely recommend coming here for your wun-tun/dumpling fix. However try to come during the weekdays to avoid the crazy rush.
